Aging is an abstract concept that no one can define what makes people getting old. Some theories such as Damaged based theories indicate that aging is the result of continuous. However, the programmed theories states aging are predetermined and occur on a fixed schedule controls by human genes. Some theories also say because time cannot save and people getting old because of we are living in a life cycle. Actually, we humans still cannot find the perfect answer to define aging and it's just as Benjamin Franklin said: "You are where I once was, and I am where one day you will be." Aging is still a mysterious until now. But, what we do know is aging people are growth entirely. Let's have a example compare current aging people population with people who living in 1900. In the year of 1900, 3.1 million people age 65 living in US. Aging Why We Age edition by CD Shelton Professional Technical eBooks Reviews
This book includes many helpful information on aging. It tells us the causes of aging and some theories of aging as well. Also, it explains several concepts which are really useful for us to understand better about aging. The book discusses the problem in a Gerontology class, making the book far more interesting. Since I have learnt a lot from the book, I would like to recommend it to everyone who wants to know more about aging.
Getting old is a sensitive topic that no one wants to talk a lot with. However, we have to face the truth that time never stops going. This book discusses lots of useful information about what will happen when people get old. Through the discussions in the Gerontology class, I learned that why age is meaningful to people, and those invisible changes in DNA, as they growing old, are the reason people get cancers. Overall, this is a great book to read.
I enjoyed reading this book about "Aging"because I read about a few theories and hypothesis that contribute to aging. Each chapter was informative and well cited! This book gave me an insight to some leading causes of aging. The dialogue of the Professor and his students was humerous and interesting to read.It surely was enjoyable. The conclusion of this book had me examine my present life and live it to the fullest with many experiences to come. I reccomend this book to anyone who has ever had questions about Aging. Hopefully this book will help answer any questions just like it has for me.
This book is very interesting. It gives a crash course on the theories on why we get old. The information is given to you in the form of a story and keeps you wanting for more because the information is given to you in pieces. The information itself is like a crash course in Gerontology, with information about studies and theories on why we age and the processes our body goes through that make us old. The best part of the book is that after receiving some very shocking information about the process of getting old there is still relief.
It is a great book for everyone to share and read. I find so any interesting things that wirten in this book. Aging is a sensetive word to say, but everyone have to face it directly. Getting old is a process in our life. No one would stay in the specific age forever. Our bodies, faces and other factors would change over time. Physical acticities might be hard. However, being alive is the most happy thing in the world, so stopping to worry about age. Age is just a number! It cannot repersents your life, so start now enjoying your life. I highly recommand this book to someone who are worried about age.
This book was written as if the teacher was teaching a class and two students had something to say about the lecture. It was different from Shelton's other books but informative and interesting nonetheless. I loved that this book talks about the different theories. I was not aware of how many there were! and like that it talks about ways to live longer. The nicer we are to our bodies, the longer we live and healthier we are. in the book it is mentioned that the population is increasing as time passes. I wonder though how long or if the population will go down due to GMO foods. there was a study done on hamsters where they were fed GMO food and their inability to reproduce went down by the third generation. We are not hamsters but i wonder if doing the same will affect us down the line in the same way.
This book gives us a topic " aging" which is mentioned a lot among people and nobody can escape from this reality. I enjoyed this book because it gives me a lot of information I should know from my daily life, but I ignored before. Most time we want to ignore this problem not only we are afraid of it, but also we did not face this problem directly. However, in this book, each chapter gives us the reasons, the concepts and examples. This book gives me an opportunity to review my life and helps me a lot in the questions of "aging". I really recommend this book to the people who always have questions in this field and who need a courage to face this problem. After reading this book, you would find you should face this problem directly.
